Review: IPSY

A few months ago, a friend told me about Ipsy. It’s a subscription service that sends you five beauty products every month in a pretty little “glam bag.” Most of the products are sample sizes, yet you get a few “full sized” products as well. I love getting things in the mail and I like makeup so really, it was a no-brainer and I decided to give it a whirl.
I started by filling out a questionnaire that is meant to help narrow down which five products I will receive. It had questions about skin tone and type, eye color, hair color, hair type, personal style, brands I like, and how comfortable or adventurous I am with makeup. Once signed up, I was placed on a waitlist which I was able to bypass as long as I shared on social media that I was joining Ipsy. Every time you share or comment on anything you have received, you accumulate points toward free products. I’m sort of hesitant with that part because I feel like people will get really sick of me talking about Ipsy all day long. Concerning the price, I pay about $19 CAD per month once everything is said and done. Also, a few days before you receive your glam bag, they send you an email allowing a sneak peek at which products you will receive in your glam bag.

Here are my thoughts about Ipsy. So far, so good. I have received two glam bags and I was pleased with what I received in both. For March, I got the following:

Pixi by Petra
Mesmerizing Mineral Duo eye
LeeAnnie Eco
3 in 1 Revolution Light cream
NYX Cosmetics
Butter Lipstick
(I received a coral color)
Crown Brush
Infinity shadow/ crease duet brush

pūr~delicate gentle soymilk cleanser & makeup remover

I would typically spend more money each month on makeup and won’t use it up before it expires, so I feel like sample size makeup may be a good fit for my budget and I. I like that I get to try the products and if I like them, I can always order the full size version from Ipsy.

So, my overall impression of Ipsy is a positive one and I would definitely recommend it. Go for it all you glam ipsters!
